Cherrie Toaster Pies!

untitled168Hi everybody! So today I thought I would do a baking recipe. These are perfect for making as an evening dessert and then throwing them into the toaster the next morning for a delicious breakfast. These pies are a little harder then the recipes I normally post, but there still beginner and there totally worth the effort. Hope you enjoy!

What You Will Need:

One package of fresh cranberries

1 cup of granulated sugar

2 oranges

1 package of ready made piecrust

1 egg white (beaten)

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

Step One: For the filling, in a medium sized saucepan combine the cranberries and granulated sugar. Add in the zest and juice of one of the oranges. Cook over medium heat and cook while stirring for 10 minutes. Do so until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely. You can do this one day ahead if you prefer.

Step Two: For the actual pies flour a surface. Using a floured rolling pin, roll out the crust to be a 10×8 inch rectangle. Cut it into 4 equal pieces. Then repeat with however many pie crusts you have.

Step Three: Spread 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cooled filling into the middle of each rectangle crust. Brush some egg white on the corners and then put to pie crusts together. Lightly press the edges of the dough together with a fork, crimping the crust to a seal.

Step Four: Using the same fork, make a few wholes in the top to vent out the steam. Brush the top of the pies with the remaining egg whites, and place the pies on a baking sheet. Make sure to put parchment paper on the baking sheet so the pie don’t stick. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool completely.

Step Five: For the glaze, squeeze the juice out of the remaining orange. Use 2 tablespoons of the juice. In a small bowl combine the powdered sugar and all of the juice. Drizzle it on top of the pies and then your ready to serve!

Thank you guys so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments below if you like the baking recipes. I’ll see you guys again. Bye!

Angel Food Cake!

untitled76Hi everybody! So today I thought I would give you guys another recipe. Today I’ll teach you how to make Angel Food Cake. This cake is delicious and perfect for a party. Hope you enjoy!

What You will Need:

  • 1 1/4 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups egg whites (takes about 12 large eggs)
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Step One: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Make sure your mixer and attachments are clean and do not have any grease residue on them. If they are not clean and dry this might prevent the egg whites from becoming light and voluminous when whipped. The egg whites themselves should be at room temperature for best results.

Step Two: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3/4 cup of the sugar and all of the flour. Put bowl aside. In your electric mixing bowl, add in the egg whites and beat until foamy (beat using the whisk attachment for your electric mixer). Add in the cream of tarter, lemon juice and salt. Continue to beat until egg white mixture starts to form soft peaks. Slowly add in the rest of the sugar and beat until the peaks forming have a glossy finish. Add in vanilla extract and almond extract and beat until mixed in.

Step Three: Very gently fold the flour into the egg white mixture using a rubber spatula. A wire whisk will work as well. Do not stir the flour in, but do this step in quick motions. If the batter is folded too much it will deflate.4

Step Four: Grease a 10 inch (two piece) angel food cake pan. Pour the batter in. Cut through the batter gently with a metal spatula (or knife) to eliminate any air pockets. Bake for 45 minutes or until the cake springs back when gently touched. Remove from oven and immediately turn the pan upside down. Hang the pan (using the inner tube of the pan) on a bottle or heatproof funnel. Cool for about 2 hours. Using a knife, loosen the sides of the cake froth pan and remove cake from pan.

When cutting the cake, do not press down on the cake because this will squish all the air out leaving it less spongy. Serve the cake the day of or refrigerate. Remember, you can add a variety of toppings to jazz up your cake, or you can leave it plain.

Thanks you guys for reading. I hope you enjoyed and found a use for this post. I’ll see you guys again soon. Bye!
