Many members of our friend group are newly coupled up this year, so us singles decided to come together to celebrate the holiday. We leaned all the way in and celebrated ‘Galentine’s’ properly, just us, honouring platonic love and friendship. Here’s our moody table-scape from this year, filled with love themed treats!

Starting from left to right, we have sugar cookies bought from a local bakery called 24 Carrots Bakery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They truly have the best sweets, and it’s always nice to support local! You can find information on their bakery and goods below.
Next, we ordered a sushi platter from another amazing local spot, Zen House Halifax. It’s a quaint Japanese traditional-style restaurant located right in the heart of the city, just off Spring Garden. The family who own this restaurant are truly the sweetest people, and will treat you as one of their own. We ordered the Golden Maki Party Tray, which was more than enough to feed four people. You can order from them off UberEats or your other favourite delivery service, or pay their cute spot a visit in person. Find more information on them below.

Next, were some rich and juicy chocolate covered strawberries!
To make these, we purchased semi-sweet chocolate chips, shortening, and some ripe strawberries from our local grocery store.
We melted about 3 cups of chocolate chips, with about 2 tablespoons of shortening in the microwave, mixing periodically to ensure a smooth consistency.
We then dipped the strawberries in the chocolate, placed on a baking sheet, added some sprinkles, and then laid them in the freezer to chill until they were ready to eat!
We also shared a bottle of Jackson-Triggs Sauvignon Blanc, which is such a deliciously fresh, crisp, and sweet wine. They are an excellent Canadian brand, and you can find more information on their spirits below!
Next up, we have our thumbprint cookies with raspberry jam. I just made a separate post with the recipe for these delicious little guys, and you can find that by following the link below!
Last but not least, our gorgeous floral arrangement!
We picked up these tulips fresh from Pete’s Frootique’s plant and flower section, adorably called “Piccalily By Pete’s”.
We arranged them with some water in a mason jar, and styled them with some long silver candle sicks to set the mood!
Pete’s has a beautiful variety of flowers and plants available, to take a look at their catalogue follow the link below.

All in all, this Valentine’s Day ended up being such a fun little get together! Later in the evening, we transitioned from heart shaped cookies and cute place settings to some bars downtown; singing at the top of our lungs and dancing our little hearts out. We wrapped it up the way we always seem to, grabbing food at John’s Pork Shack on the walk home and debriefing the night. Truly the perfect reminder that while romantic love is great, the love we have for our friends is equally important <3.
(had to plug John’s Pork Shack, ofc).
